Postal Service Overview

Eswatini Post & Telecommunications (formerly Swaziland Post) is the Kingdom of Eswatini’s postal operator. Eswatini — renamed from Swaziland in 2018 by King Mswati III — is one of Africa’s last absolute monarchies and one of the continent’s smallest countries, landlocked between South Africa and Mozambique. Swaziland stamps appeared from 1933 under British protectorate administration, and independent Swaziland/Eswatini has issued stamps since 1968. The name change from Swaziland to Eswatini in 2018 creates a distinct recent philatelic boundary.

Notable Stamp Issues

Swaziland’s first stamps in 1933 were under British protectorate administration — standard Crown colony designs. Independence stamps from 1968 depicted King Sobhuza II (who reigned for 82 years — the world’s longest reigning monarch) and Swazi cultural heritage.
